Colorado Fair Share, a part of the Fair Share Alliance, is spending the month of July working on an exciting and historical petitioning campaign. In conjunction with several other nonprofits (including Colorado Public Interest Research Group/COPIRG), Colorado Fair Share will be collecting signatures for a voter instruction initiative. Each petition signature from a registered Colorado voter is a means of telling the state government that we want a cap on the amount that corporations can contribute to political campaigns. Since the Supreme Court's controversial Citizens United ruling, in which corporations were granted the same rights as individual citizens, the country's billionaire CEOs have been funneling tens of millions of dollars into front groups to influence our electoral process. It's time to take a stand and get big money out of politics.

Colorado Fair Share is hiring petitioners to work on this campaign. Compensation is $9/hour. To become a part of this historical grassroots political movement, call our office to schedule an interview at (719) 422-3882 [ask for either Hannah or Norah] or stop by! We're at 107 S. Grand, above Fred's Paints.

While I'm thinking of it since "It's time to take a stand and get big money out of politics" we could ban ActBlue, American Fedn of State, County & Municipal Employees, National Education Assn, Service Employees International Union, Intl Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, American Federation of Teachers, American Assn for Justice, even Fair Share Alliance which advertises:

Donations may be used for political purposes such as supporting or opposing candidates.

It's a real eye opener who the big money organizations are and what they stand for. (http://www.opensecrets.org/pacs/toppacs.php?Type=E&cycle=2012&filter=N)
